I am writing to inform you of wide reaching changes that we are planning to implement to the Academy week, day and curriculum structure from September 2010 to coincide with the opening of the new facilities. These changes are part of our need to respond to national and local initiatives and our desire to support our students in achieving the best attainment and making the most progress that they can during their time at the CTC.
The new model has been based on a wide consultation with governors, Parents’ Consultative Council, staff and not least students. As a result we hope that the different views of our stakeholders have been taken into consideration to achieve the best possible changes for the right reasons.
The following model for the Academy week and day is being proposed:
| Y7 | Y8 | Y9 | Y10 | Y11 | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Breakfast Club | 7.45 - 8.15 | |||||
| Reg | 8.20 - 8.30 | |||||
| 8.30 - 9.25 | ||||||
| Brunch | Brunch | 9.25 - 10.25 | ||||
| Brunch | Brunch | |||||
| 10.25 - 11.20 | ||||||
| Lunch | 11.20 - 12.15 | |||||
| Lunch | Lunch | 12.15 - 1.10 | ||||
| Lunch | Lunch | 1.10 -2.05 | ||||
| 2.05 - 3.00 | 2.05 - 2.50 (Y11) | |||||
| Reg | 3.00 - 3.05 | |||||
The key changes will be as follows:
The full model plus subject allocation can be downloaded in Microsoft Excel format from this link.
This new model allows us to meet our statutory requirements. We anticipate that these changes will allow your child to achieve the best they can whilst also retaining the full and balanced extended curriculum which allows students to develop as people and as responsible citizens.
Once the necessary catering equipment has been installed we will be trialing this model on at least one Friday after the Easter vacation. For those days only school will finish at 3.05 rather than 2.45. A further letter will be sent home via students to ensure you have plenty of warning of the dates.
If you would like to discuss these changes further please do not hesitate to contact me at the CTC Kingshurst Academy.
Tim Boylan.
